Training For Retiree’s  (UW NetID Required)

Q: As a retired staff member, when will I lose access to Canvas?

A: You lose access to Canvas four weeks after the effective date of your retirement, per the UW’s standard procedure regarding computing services. You will receive an email on day 14 stating that computing services and access to Canvas will expire in 14 days.

If you have had the role of teacher, TA, course designer, guest teacher, or librarian in a course, you will have a 90-day period after your retirement date to sign in and access content from that specific Canvas course.

Here is a timeline of how access expirations are expected to occur.

Q: I am the owner of a shared NetID. What do I do?

A: Please transfer the shared NetID to your supervisor or work peer; this will ensure the NetID stays active when you leave.

Learn more about transferring ownership using the Provisioning Request Tool (PRT).
