Important notices:

  • CPR laptops are not intended to replace the responsibility of principal investigators (PIs) to purchase computers for their projects.
  • Each department currently has four (4) CPR loaner laptops available:
    • BNHI: 4 laptops
    • CFPHN: 4 laptops

These resources include the initial allocation and the laptops reallocated after a fellowship concludes.

Usage Guidelines

Use of CPR laptops is subject to Washington State laws, UW policies (including IT, data protection, and research compliance), and School of Nursing guidelines.

Security & Data Protection

  • Use devices securely, especially when working with protected data or sensitive research information
  • Use approved methods for storing/transferring data
  • Lock or log out when unattended

Responsibility

  • The assigned SoN employee remains accountable for security, appropriate use, and timely return
  • If a laptop is used by a non-SoN individual, they must be recorded as a sub-assignee, but accountability remains with the assigned SoN employee

Returns

  • Devices must be returned to SoN IT at the end of the loan period or upon request

Expanding the Pool

Departments may increase their CPR resources by purchasing additional laptops using allowable departmental funds, at their discretion.

All added devices must conform to SoN IT standard computer specifications to ensure:

  • Compatibility
  • Security
  • Supportability

Departments are encouraged to create internal SOPs to coordinate purchases with SoN IT for procurement, configuration, and tracking.

How To Enroll

To request or coordinate an assignment, contact SoN IT with the required assignment details. Please include:

  • Start date and expected duration of the assignment
  • SoN employee responsible for the device (required, even if used by someone else)
  • Associated grant or research project (if applicable)
